ACROSS THE RIVER BANK

Jane is the main characters name of my short story. The name JANE rings bells of people who have read PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. Jane is a shy, introvert, loving, caring and never expressive about her miseries and always be to herself.

As people have some particular fears about some things and never try to overcome their fears. In the same way, Jane was afraid of leaving her place where she has spent her childhood and never dared enough to cross those boundaries .

“Its been several years since Hutt and I never thought life would turn up to such situations and leave us here, like this” says Jane to herself while staring at herself in the mirror.
It has not been long enough since she was newly wed to Hutt and was living her life in their new home presented by her parents. Within a month, she lost her parents in a mishap and her world turned upside down forever. She never showed her distress and discomfort caused by her parents loss. As days passed, she could sense indifference in Hutt’s behavior and tension in their relationship being intensified.

As she dreaded of worst to happen. As if foreseen, a dreadful event occurred on her first anniversary.While she was decorating her home for celebrations to turn it into one of the happiest and memorable moment of their married life,
Hutt expressed his decision and reasons for his drastic decision of parting away from her. It came as a hard blow to her. She was torn apart into pieces after knowing reasons for being abandoned.

Actual reason was Jane’s indifference and stubborn belief of not crossing those boundaries which will connect her to the outer world, to which she is a complete alien. This made her to persuade her husband not to accept any job proposals which would make them leave that place. He was enable to convey his opposition and at last it prompted him to take such drastic decision.

Jane started to spend her life managing her grape wine yards and her estate which was passed on to her after her parent’s passed away.She came to know about her pregnancy and was happy to know about the happiest thing which a woman always longs for. The couple weren’t legally parted away. Hutt had still the same indefinite and unconditional love towards his love of life. As if their world wasn’t having enough sorrows, her abortion added up to their sorrows. She lost her baby during an accident and it led to her lead an aimless life.

LISA entered her life as a ray hope and it turned out to be her hope for a aimless life. Jane and Hutt adopted her after two years when they lost their child. It made feel him both happy as well as sorrow by noticing her coldness and wasn’t able to show his feelings by taking her into warmth of his embrace and tell her that he will protect her from all miseries. But it wasn’t possible as she wasn’t opening herself to him and it always made him feel discomfort.

Lisa was a cute, charming and beautiful kid. Her giggles and her foot steps filled whole house and her life with happiness. It was a month before their anniversary drastic incident took place. Lisa had fallen very ill and wasn’t responding to any of treatments given to her.

Hutt was informed about Lisa’s condition. He was mad and alarmed by the news. They both were his life and world and they meant everything for him. He saw Jane with same expressionless face and aloofness in her and was afraid in his deep heart to loose them both and left behind to pass his life as a loner. He prayed to GOD to not to take their hope of life and leave them hollow and hapless.

Prayers were answered and Lisa recovered soon and was again running and playing in their home. Jane and their home got back to its liveliness and glow which was at edge of loss completely. It was day before their seventh anniversary when she was informed by the maid about Hutt’s packing to leave them. She ran as if her life was again falling into the black hole and was ready to fight back to win her life. She came running and dropped into Hutt’s arms and kissed him as if it was the only way of directing her feelings to him.Hutt was on the top of world and it was the most beautiful day of his life.

Jane says to Hutt “Honey, I understand exact expression of your words when you told me while leaving me on our first anniversary”. He holds her in his arms and they turn to see their Lisa playing on the deck of the cruise to MIAMI.

May be the story which I have written might be same old one but I just want to convey emotions of WOMENS THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS WHICH CAN BE KNOWN ONLY BY PENETRATING INTO THEIR MINDS ONLY.Instead,RATHER GIVE HER TIME TO LET HER SOUGHT HERSELF AND TO OEPN TO OTHERS. JUST GIVE HER SUPPORT WHILE SORTING THEM OUT.A RELATIOSHIP ALWAYS NEED COMPLETE DEDICATION ON BOTH SIDES AND IF ONE LOOSES FAITH IN THE OTHER IT WOULD LEAD TO ACCIDENT.ITS JUST TIME AND BELIEF IN ONE ANOTHERS DECISION THAT WOULD LEAD TO A BETTER RELATION.
